Essential oils have gained global recognition due to their wide range of use.
In fact, essential oils have long been the basis for herbal medication, herbal additives, beauty care as well as therapeutic and aromatic applications. The little research that I have conducted shows me that their use is not new.

However, you should not fret, because this side effect resolves a few weeks after you have stopped using lavender oil.

Frankincense Essential Oil
Frankincense is typically a tree resin which has been used and cherished since the ancient times for its cosmetic, spiritual, medicinal and aromatic applications.
Personally, I frequently use it for house fragrance and perfumery, even though it is useful when used as an expectorant.
When I say expectorant, basically I mean that it helps promote the secretion of sputum by the air passages, helping to treat coughs.
I find the scent of frankincense essential oil calming, grounding and relaxing without being sedating. Emotionally, it can potential help prevent anxiety, depression, fear, grief, panic attacks as well as stress.
When applied topically, it helps reduce stretch marks and enhance the tone of your skin.
Just mix four to six drops of frankincense, grapefruit and myrrh essential oils with coconut oils and gently rub on your face. Wait for five to ten minutes and wash it off.
One of the main benefits of using this particular essential oil is that it offer a broad range of applications. It keeps existing tissues and cells healthy and promotes a healthy cell regeneration process.
Though safe, there are few problems which can arise from the use of frankincense.
- Studies show that it may raise the risk of abnormal bleeding, especially among people with a pre-existing bleeding condition.
- it can cause gastrointestinal distress, stomach pain, skin rashes as well as stomach hyper-acidity.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Just a small portion of peppermint essential oil will provide you with a natural burst of energy. Its aroma is quite familiar and pleasant to many.
I realized that it is more intense and far more concentrated than lots of other steam distilled essential oils. At very low dilutions, peppermint essential oil is minty, fresh and very uplifting.

I can’t deny that peppermint oil is useful product, with a variety of applications. However, just like any other essential oil, it does have its bad side.
- It can potentially cause unbeatable allergic reactions such as mouth sores, headache, and flushing.
- Anal burning during bouts of diarrhea is also common
- It is not safe for pregnant mothers, even very little is known about their safety during lactation and pregnancy.
Rosemary Essential Oil
Rosemary essential oil is another useful product that I find very hard to ignore from my list. As with other oils which contain camphor, this particular oil is helpful and efficient in arthritis and massage blends. It makes a good decongestant and is equally helpful with respiratory problems.
Rosemary essential oil has an incredible reputation for scalp, acne, hair and general skin care. I have come across lots of articles suggesting that rosemary essential oil can help prevent hair loss (alopecia).
Directions to getting rid of acne
To rid of acne, make a homemade face wash, typically by adding rosemary oil to raw honey and rub the resulting mixture on your face thoroughly. Then rinse off the mixture.

The disadvantages of Rosemary Essential Oil
- Ingestion of large quantities of the oil can cause intestinal and stomach irritations, and perhaps kidney damage.
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Over the last few years that I have been using essential oils, my conclusion is that tea tree is a must-have essential oil to keep on hand for an array of applications.
Even though the aroma is medicinal, I have become accustomed to it. It is widely used to fight infections and boost the immune system.
In fact, its healing benefits are so immense and is efficient in treating skin conditions, burns and cuts, dandruff, athlete’s foot and blemishes among many others.

Despite being one of the most popular essential oil, tea tree also poses a few risks. These are:
- It can cause mild to severe allergic reactions
- The other common effect is skin irritation, especially when applied to broken or open surfaces of the skin.
Bergamot Essential Oil
Bergamot is a citrus scented oil commonly used in perfumes and colognes. Again, it is used to prevent stress, anxiety, and some skin conditions such as eczema. It is one of my favorite essential oils, and I occasionally diffuse it for topical applications.
Bear in mind that cold-pressed bergamot oil is highly phototoxic. As a result, you should use it with extreme care on the skin.
It has a broad range of use, including treating boils, sores, cystitis, itching, oily skin and loss of appetite. Emotionally, it can treat anger, depression, fatigue and loneliness.
By just inhaling the bergamot essential oil, you will help eliminate gallstones formation.
To start your day with tremendous energy, as you take your shower, place a washcloth with three drops of the oil.
Place the washcloth on your chest with hot stream from your shower for a few minutes.
It is imperative to note that bergamot does not seem to cause side effects. However, just like most essential oils, it’s not suitable for children and pregnant women.
Best Essential Oil for Health
In this section, I want to provide you with a list of essential oil remedies that you may use as natural medicines.

I have been using eucalyptus essential oils to fend off coughs and open my pathways. Just add a few drops into a steaming hot water or your diffuser. Inhale and clear your nasal passage.

Combine a few drops of peppermint and lavender essential oils and apply around your neck, forehead and relieve yourself from headaches.
Is There any Difference Between Essential Oil and Carrier Oil?
I have noted that there are a lot of confusions surrounding these two types of natural products. This forced me to conduct a small study, and I have an answer for you.
Essential oils are the leaves, roots, bark and other aromatic parts of a botanical. Again, essential oil can evaporate and have a strong scent.
On the other hand, carrier oils are distilled from the fatty portions of nuts, seeds, and kernels. Carrier oils never evaporate or lose their aroma as significantly as essential oils.
While carrier oils can stay for extended periods without losing their therapeutic values, essential oil oxidize, thus losing their therapeutic benefits.
To put is simpler, carrier oils are typically vegetable oils.
Are Essential Oils Same as Aromatherapy Oils?
Here is another vital question. An aromatherapy oil is typically a two-percent dilution of essential oil in ninety -eight percent of a grape seed or almond.
Precisely, aromatherapy oil is just a massage oil available in a 10 mL bottle and looks exactly like the ones which contain the undiluted pure essential oil.
